My Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V 16.2 MP Digital Camera

I have Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V camera for about a month. First impressions are overwhelming. Even in standard mode, the videos are better than DVD quality. The image quality in Photo mode is very well. Even the automatic settings give very good results. then there are variable automatic program, the manual setting and especially the ability to save settings and quickly recall. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V camera is really fast - both shutter lag as well as focusing on power as well. Despite a handy format of 10.5 x 6 x 3.5 cm and a weight of 245 grams, the camera has a huge zoom and a telephoto focal length of 384 mm. The image stabilizer is excellent and visually. You can make full telephoto without a tripod pictures are not blurred.

Although I had not set properly at the first entry and nothing tasted or had read, I have made good right away and very good pictures.

I took pictures of my lawn with different focal lengths. However, even in low light and full telephoto and wide angle when I have not done it that I got splattered images. I suspect that the poeple who give bad review had set the wrong resolution. I only shoot 16:9 but with the higher resolution of 12MB. The recordings have either compressed as a size between 2MB and 7 MB. A recording of a blue sky with clouds was the most compressed. My lawn was the least compressed and brought it to an impressive 7MB. For this you can see every blade of grass individually and in detail.

The adjustment possibilities are enormous. I'm going to try out all the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V details features and try out the optimal settings. Then I will use my findings and experiences in here put back so that my results can be understood.

I shoot for about 10 years, had earlier photographed with point and shoot cameras then with simple SLR. Later, with more sophisticated SLR. I also had cameras e.g. the Rollei35 (I still have) and I also got the Canon APS cameras at the time outstanding test scores. For several years now I have digital cameras and I've always preferred the compact. With my last I was and am basically very happy, only the wide angle was not far enough, the image quality of 16:9 was only in the small range (the HX9V has a small and a large resolution at 16:9) and especially the videos were still not HD capable. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V I have approximately the same size and same weight as when H10B now an even better image stabilizer, excellent video skills a mE even higher image quality and many additional settings that were not previously handled, or not so simple.

The manual setting is not written as a reviewer of useless but I had to choose right away in moderately good weather the possibility aperture between 4 and 11 multiple values, I could select different shutter speeds and I was able to change the ISO setting.

Dimension
The manual focus, I have not been tested. But I did it in good light an underexposed image capture to what in my opinion makes it clear that the manual controls are widely and can be one of his creativity run much more than is commonly assumed in such a small and compact camera.

With the digital zoom I've done the tests in a good light - bring useful results - if you do not overdo it. I have for example made at zoom factor 21 is still good usable shots. Please do not misunderstand - the more you use digital zoom, the less the images are suitable for eg Large-format prints or e.g. To make enlargements. And if you have digital zoom in any good light conditions, it is only worthwhile if there is absolutely no other way is. Such situations, yes. You can adjust digital zoom and optical zoom while you're in the area can be seen das. From the Digital Capture window is shown dashed inside. If you overdo evidently be seen in the display is very good because the images are fuzzy or rough it or even to form blocks. I still have not been tested to what factor in good light, the digital zoom is useful. So if you rarely greater than 384 mm telephoto needs can mE with digital zoom, giving as many live recordings, of which he had previously only dreamed of.

If you enlarge these shots later, it may happen that the results make a no fun. It must be clear that digital zoomed images are then digitally enlarges again enormous loss of quality. It should also not be the norm that one example with digital zoom factor of 24 and then again makes a doubling of the factor of 2. But I'll try some more and report.

In any case, I have the image quality at moderate digital zoom ever surprised positively.

The main advantage of the digital zoom, I do not see in the bridging of long distances, but with pictures of animals. With the digital zoom I've done a really good reception (but with very good light) is sharp and brilliant. The TV over the whole format is a super shot. Expression of a small-sized paper image is also impressive. I.e. I see the main use for the digital zoom at close range shots to reach, for which I had yet another purpose telephoto to telephoto zoom for my built-in factor of 1.7 optical.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V camera fits in the wrist pocket, in my Anoraktasche in my pocket, even in your pocket. In my handlebar bag on the bike anyway, and I use a little of predecessor models ready case in which the camera fits perfectly clean and then protected. In my case fit batteries and charger from the previous unit at exactly the HX9V so I have 3 batteries now available. In addition to my previous MS memory cards, I can now also use the SD and relatively low cost and large (for videos), especially high-speed access.

A wrist strap is included, it is ok.

The HDMI port is a mini-connector. A cable that goes from mini to standard HDMI is available at Amazon for a few euros. The original Sony cable, however, is relatively expensive, but will allow that you can use with Sony TVs and remote controls the camera. There are also mini-plug adapters to normal, if you already have cable. I prefer a cable adapter. Included is a general-purpose cable that goes from the connector on the bottom of the camera to USB. Included is an adapter that allows the battery to be loaded into the camera without a PC connected to be. I have earlier models of Sony manufactures a small external battery charger, which I can charge the batteries quickly and without the camera.

Picture quality is very good, video quality is very good, very good image stabilization, excellent display, good to very good use. The lens is automatically covered by the built-in cover or open. The only downside is the non-covered slot for the universal USB connector on the bottom of the camera a bit fiddly and the cover of the mini-HDMI port. A deduction for it I can not give, because if it were possible, the camera would get 10 points for me. The universal connector on the component shelf is m.E. not well placed. You have to put the camera on the display is not you can place the device on the ground.

But as I said previously this is the only downer. I think you can live with - even if it is not resolved happily.

For the outstanding first impression I give the camera so the maximum possible five stars.

And please devalue the reviewers who want to: Before you report negatively, check it to see if you had no operational errors or configuration errors, whether your product may be faulty and or if you have even tried with useless light top-shots to make , because one thing is clear - no camera can do without good light really good pictures (sun!).

In any case, the mine has very good overall impression of the other reviewers (except for a few slip-ups) left also confirmed.

Of course, a camera, a manual focus adjustment enables to handle a lot easier, of course, must provide a good DSLR picture quality in any situation. But I want to stop this just lugging around 250 g. And I think currently there is little better.

The digital zoom works in both 1080i and at 1080p. In good light mEwirklich good pictures despite digital zoom.

Sometimes the connections have been criticized. I've been using since the days again MiniHDMI interface. Initially this is a little difficult. After a few applications are doing better. The cover closes when I clean and tidy and I think whoever does not like a ludicrous it is tearing around the bracket (which will ensure that the cover) does not destroy. Certainly better material here is feasible, but with my previous camera was like material and it has easily become a very long time.

Then was criticized (by me) of these general-purpose USB port on the camera bottom. Ok - the attachment to the soil is not quite so happy because you like the camera to the ground. But - if you put the camera on the back of the display from being scratched. These plastic area under the Movie button is increased and leads to the site that gets the camera 1-2 mm spacing. And while the display is framed, the camera is on the other side of the border and not on the display. The USB port is not open but the rest has an internal door. I.e. the plug is pulled out and so no dust can penetrate because the approach pushes a cover. If you put the plug back purely hiebei this cover is pressed inward. I had overlooked on a cursory level. On this, and anyway I only rarely with the USB interface, and usually work with the HDMI is it ok for me.
